OUR GROUPS – Color Guard

Fall Color Guard is a vital part of the Lancer Regiment Marching Band and is open to all students.  Auditions for the Color Guard are typically held in late April or early May.  Color Guard members learn how to spin flags, rifles, and sabres, and they learn dance and performance skills.  The group begins rehearsing in June and continues rehearsals with the Lancer Regiment Marching Band from mid-July through October.  During the school year, the Color Guard rehearses after school on Mondays (guard only) and after school with the Marching Band on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The Lancer Regiment Marching Band performs at all home football games and 5-6 competitions in the fall.

Winter Guard is an indoor competitive, performance-based activity incorporating flags, rifles, sabres, and dance.  Winter Guard is open to all students and auditions are typically held in late October or early November. Rehearsals are typically Monday and Wednesday evenings along with several weekend choreography camps throughout the winter.  Winter Guard competitions, both local and out-of-town, typically take place from late January through mid April.  Recently the Lafayette Winter Guard Program made it to semi-finals at the 2023 Winter Guard International World Championships.
